Clients that work with Mary in a therapeutic relationship are invited to examine relationship patterns and learn relationship principles to gain awareness of how to positively contribute to interpersonal effectiveness, establish meaningful connections, and set appropriate personal boundaries with self and others.
Self-concept, unmet needs, and goals are developed in therapy sessions to assist the client in understanding how to reach their full potential. Communication and coping strategies are introduced and practiced establishing healthy emotional regulation and meaningful engagement with others to increase confidence and promote self-efficacy.
Clients learn how to identify and contribute to nurturing relationships that are mutually beneficial because they provide consistency and predictability and create safety and trust. Healthy and respectful relationship principles are introduced allowing clients to better manage the level of psychological distress that can surface in relationships. By controlling ourselves we have influence in our relationships and our needs and interests can be realized. Emotional safety, establishing self-respecting boundaries, and learning how to connect and attune to your own needs and the needs of others is a focus in therapy.
